Celebration of
President Reagan’s Life and Works

The Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Center for Public Affairs was designed by Hugh Stubbins and Associates. It is located in Simi Valley, CA, about 40 miles (64 km) northwest of Downtown Los Angeles. Today, the library was turned into a museum celebrating the life and works of President Reagan by continually showcasing temporary and permanent exhibits. These cover Reagan’s history starting from his childhood in Dixon, IL and following his life through his film career and military service, marriage to Nancy Davis Reagan, and political career.

Repository of Reagan’s
Presidential Records

As a presidential library administered by the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA), the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library, under the authority of the Presidential Records Act, is the repository of presidential records for Reagan’s administration. Its holdings include the following:

  • More Than 1.6 Million Photographs
  • 50 Million Pages of Presidential Documents
  • A Half-Million Feet of Motion Picture Film
  • Thousands of Audio and Video Tapes

In addition, the library houses personal paper collections such as documents from Reagan’s eight years as Governor of California. Considering the depth of historical knowledge you can develop from it, this tour is worth every single minute of the 1-hour-and-45-minute drive!
